Measuring Impact Made Easier: The New Social Value Calculator

A new tool designed to help organisations measure and communicate their social impact has been unveiled at the Annual Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) Conference, held at the Fielder Centre in Hatfield.

Developed by the University of Hertfordshire through the University Integrated Care System Partnership (UHICS) – a collaboration between the University, the VCFSE Alliance, Hertfordshire and West Essex Integrated Care Board (ICB), and Hertfordshire County Council – the Social Value Calculator gives local charities, community groups, and social enterprises a practical way to put a figure on the difference they make.

Proving Your Impact Matters

For organisations already working day-to-day in the sector, the challenge of demonstrating impact is familiar. Funders and commissioners increasingly expect clear evidence of outcomes, yet capturing that in a consistent and credible way can be resource-intensive. The Social Value Calculator addresses this by providing a structured framework to quantify outcomes, helping organisations demonstrate their impact to funders and partners – so they can secure more resources, expand services, and reach even more people in the community.
