Strengthening Communities
A Centre for Voluntary Service (CVS) exists to support and strengthen the voluntary and community sector in a local area. In simple terms, it connects people who want to make a difference with the groups and projects already doing great work.
At NH&SCVS, we help communities in North Hertfordshire and Stevenage thrive. We support local charities, community groups, faith organisations, and social enterprises - often behind the scenes - so they have the knowledge, skills, and connections they need to succeed.
This could mean helping a new community group get started, offering advice on funding or governance, or running training and networking events that bring local organisations together. It also means making it easier for residents to get involved in causes they care about.
We also run and support projects that directly benefit local people - from community transport for those who need help getting to appointments, to volunteering initiatives and programmes tackling loneliness or digital exclusion.
At its heart, NH&SCVS is about connection.
