Discover How Transport Builds Connection: Local Community Webinar Invites Residents to Explore the Power of Neighbourliness
Community transport services mean far more to local residents than a way to reach medical appointments or essential services. These journeys are moments of connection, reassurance, and genuine human contact. Next month, North Herts and Stevenage Community Transport service will be hosting a special online talk exploring this often‑overlooked emotional impact, highlighting how small acts of neighbourliness can help ease loneliness and isolation across our towns and villages.

The Transport for Connection discussion will take place online Thursday 26th February, from 11.00am to 12.30pm, and is designed especially with local people in mind - particularly those who care deeply about strengthening community life. While the session is online, the team recognises that this may feel daunting for some. Residents are warmly encouraged to call the office for friendly support in accessing the talk.
The morning’s guest speaker will be Andy Nazer, a respected national figure in the field of loneliness and social connection. Andy brings decades of experience to the conversation, having served as a roving ambassador and later National Campaign Manager at the Campaign to End Loneliness. His career spans community engagement roles within the NHS and local councils, work as a VCFSE commissioner, and years championing public health initiatives. He is widely known as an intuitive social entrepreneur - someone who speaks, writes, and broadcasts with depth and compassion about the realities of social isolation, loneliness, and grief.
The loneliness pandemic
Andy will join the team to discuss why loneliness has become one of the most urgent social challenges of our time, and how everyday interactions - such as a volunteer driver offering a lift - can make a profound difference. This talk will shine a light on the human stories behind the service: the conversations shared, the confidence regained, the reassurance felt by those who might otherwise spend days without seeing another person.

For residents who have ever wondered whether they could play a part - perhaps as a volunteer driver, a supporter, or simply someone who cares about the wellbeing of their neighbours - this event offers a gentle and inspiring introduction.
